Setting up a social area in Reading

I needed a bespoke home bar after hosting a gathering where we ran out space. I chose to search near Reading Station.

I stumbled upon the site while browsing and emailed photos. Central Bedroom and Kitchens responded with a price that felt right for the work.

The process of planning this project was honestly quite detailed. I spent several hours thinking on the configuration of the room before even choosing up the device. My living area has constantly felt a bit incomplete, and having a dedicated area for drinks seemed like the ideal fix to that problem. I remember sitting in my kitchen looking at a messy countertop filled with glassware and realising that something had to shift. The first interaction with the staff was extremely straightforward, which provided me confidence. We talked different aesthetics, from contemporary sleek looks to more classic and timber finishes. I was quite impressed by how much information they wanted regarding the measurements and the existing decor of my house. It felt like they genuinely wanted the finished result to match seamlessly with the rest of the building. I offered multiple angles in the images I uploaded, making sure each corner was clear. They explained that the custom nature of the furniture signified that precision was absolutely critical to avoid any issues throughout the installation. We went back and forth on possible materials, searching at samples of laminate and different types of wood patterns. It is amazing how much consideration goes into picking the right handles, like pulls and fittings, which can totally change the feel of the entire construction. I needed a space where I could easily prepare cocktails for guests without needing to constantly dash back to the kitchen for lemons or glasses. The ease of having everything in a single spot was the main reason for this purchase. We settled the blueprint after a brief consultation where all my questions about plumbing and lighting points were addressed. I appreciated that they did not hurry the design stage, spending the effort to make sure that the depth of the shelving was sufficient for my tallest bottles. It seemed like a joint effort rather than a standard sale, which is rare to locate nowadays.

The fitting date came faster than expected, and the fitter was on time and ready. He started by laying down protective covers to ensure my carpet stayed tidy. Watching the parts being unpacked was fascinating, as the standard of the materials was instantly obvious. He carefully checked the levels of the floor before securing the main structure of the unit. I observed as the structure gradually gained shape, changing a plain alcove into a practical feature. The degree of craftsmanship involved in fitting the boards to the wonky surfaces of my older house was notable. He explained how each piece slotted in to provide maximum stability. We spent a bit of time choosing on the exact position for the built-in fridge, ensuring it was easy to open but tucked back from main sight. The installation of the worktop was the most satisfying moment of the whole process. Seeing the smooth top finally resting on the base made the project come real. He next fitted the mirrored backsplash, which instantly caused the room to look twice the size. The lighting were wired afterward, and testing them for the first time was a highlight. The soft light underneath the shelves highlighted the bottles perfectly. I could see precisely how handy this might be during evening parties. The fitter was very careful, taking the effort to wipe down every area and remove any debris made during the drilling. He additionally demonstrated me the way to move the shelves should I later wanted to house bigger pieces. The attention to precision was really great, right down to the sealant beads along the joins. It was obvious that he had immense pride in his craft, which is always good to see. We conducted a final walkthrough of the completed installation to ensure everything was to standard. I noted that one handle was a bit loose, and he fixed it straight away with a quick twist of a tool. This thoroughness is just what I was looking for when I arranged the service.

The completed bar appears absolutely stunning and has become the main feature of my downstairs. It provides a sophisticated vibe that was formerly lacking from my reception space. The capacity is immense, allowing me to organise all my liquors, mixers, and specialist glassware in one cohesive unit. No longer do I need to rummage through cluttered cupboard shelves to find a bottle opener or a certain kind of tumbler. Everything has its rightful place, which renders hosting so more simpler and relaxing. I enjoy the way the materials reflect the light in the evenings, creating a warm ambience. My guests have already complimented the design several times, with some actually inquiring for the details bespoke home bar of the people who built it. It really seems like a bespoke addition made specifically for my needs. The elevation of the countertop is perfect for standing around with a glass, and the built-in lighting units provide just the right amount of illumination without being overpowering. Even when not in use, it serves as a beautiful piece of cabinetry that elevates the whole look of the house. I spent some time placing my bottles on the racks to create a pleasing display. The mirrored back truly help in displaying the labels and giving dimension to the small space. It has inspired me to try creating different cocktails that I previously felt were too complicated to bother in a standard kitchen. Having the tap close would have been nice, but the area constraints resulted in we decided without it to save storage space. This was a deliberate choice we took during the design phase, and I do not rue it. The extra cupboard space for straws and accessories is far more valuable to me in the long period.

There were a few of small limitations that are fair to mentioning for a balanced perspective. The wait period for the bespoke panels was a little slower than I originally hoped. It took about eight days from the initial payment to the actual installation appointment. While this is understandable for high-quality work, it required a bit of patience on my end. I had hoped to have it finished for a certain event, but we missed that date by a few days. However, the updates from the office regarding the progress was regular, so I was not left in the dark. I rather hold a little more for a product that is made to endure than have a rushed work that breaks after a few months. The start cost quote was also slightly lower than the final invoice, mainly because I chose to upgrade the hardware and add extra internal lights midway through the process. These changes were entirely my choice, and the company was very transparent about the extra fees involved. Another small point was the volume of packaging left following the fitting. Although the worker tidied up the build site well, there was a significant pile of waste to get rid of in my bins. It wasn't a huge problem, but a thing to consider if you have little waste room. Despite these small details, the total journey was very good. The standard of the finish is much better to anything I might have purchased off-the-shelf. It seems sturdy and durable, and I am confident it will handle decades of use. I believe the worth it has given to my home well outweighs the upfront outlay. It has changed the way I use my downstairs space, rendering it far more inviting. I no longer feel cramped when friends visit.

Thinking back on the whole project, I am truly happy I opted forward with it. The first idea came from a trip to a neighbour's place in London, where they had a comparable setup. I realised then how much it enhanced the movement of the party. When I returned to Reading, I started looking for nearby options and found that working with a specialist outfit was the only route to get the precise style I desired. The ability to choose every element, from the shade of the stain to the position of the power sockets, ensured the final result was exactly as I pictured. I also had a tiny secret compartment included for keeping expensive items like silver spoons. This kind of customisation is what renders the service unique. It did not feel like a mass-produced item being forced into a space where it didn't fit. Instead, it looks like it has forever been a segment of the house. If you are thinking about a similar domestic improvement, my advice would be to remain calm and spend the effort on the design part. It is much better to change a sketch than it is to fix a cabinet once it is manufactured. The knowledge offered during the start was invaluable in stopping me from doing simple mistakes, such as putting the cooler too near to a heat source. These little details of advice are what you buy for when you hire skilled professionals. I am currently looking at other parts of my home to see where further I might install fitted solutions. The outcome of this bar project has given me the drive to start a bigger task in the kitchen next year. It has been a wonderful addition to my daily routine, and I look forward to many years of enjoying it with family and friends. Finding the proper balance between style and function was the aim, and I think we reached it perfectly. The process from a messy alcove to a stylish hosting point was truly worth the time and money required. I now have a home that I am truly happy to share with to visitors. Reading has some great places to go for a cocktail, but honestly, I now prefer staying at my place and enjoying my own personal bar. It offers the same feel without the noise or the commute. That itself was deserving the whole project. I am so pleased with how the ambience functions in the night, creating a relaxing environment to relax after a busy shift at the office. It is the small treats like this that render home living so rewarding and enjoyable. I highly value the craft that went into the finished product. The way the doors close with a soft thud speaks volumes about the construction quality. No aspect was overlooked, and the final look is exactly what I hoped it would be when I originally began this process. It is a testament to the skill of the fitters and the quality of the components utilised. I am a truly satisfied customer.
